Ingredients

  • 800g potatoes
  • 400ml milk
  • 200ml single cream
  • 2 fresh eggs
  • 60g Président slightly-salted butter
  • 100g grated Président Emmental
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ground nutmeg
  • table salt, ground pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°.

Step 2

Peel and wash the potatoes, then cut them into slices.

Step 3

Season with ground nutmeg, table salt and ground pepper.

Step 4

In the meantime, peel the garlic and rub it around the inside of your gratin dish.

Step 5

Bring the milk to the boil in a pan, then leave to cool. Beat the eggs and add them to the cooled milk, together with the cream.

Step 6

Arrange the slices of potato in layers and pour the milk over the top.

Step 7

Sprinkle with grated cheese and add a few small knobs of butter.

Step 8

Cook for 45 minutes.

Step 9

Serve piping hot and golden brown.
